Donating Too Many Items is a Disaster for Organizations!

posted 23 days ago by RVCOADjst from United Way of Jackson County Labels: donations

Because the people in our Valley and beyond are amazingly generous, donations, especially clothing, are coming in bigger quantities than people affected by the fire need them; it’s time to close the donation floodgates of material goods. Instead, organizations are asking people who want to help, if they are able, to focus on donating money, which can go to meeting people's specific needs.

Alternatively, we ask that from here on out, you please hold on to your donation items and wait while Recovers organizers work to find the person who needs it. This way your donation of items doesn't become part of the disaster for organizations! We are working hard to make the connections. We ask you to be patient.

Many organizations have registered on this website with their giving portals through the "I Want to Give" > "Donate Money" buttons. They are on the front lines helping right now and are good choices for donations of money.

There is also a "Donating Money" list in the documents section found on the front page of this website. Scroll down and look to the left above "Organizers."
